Drops of water falling Falling from the sky Splash upon the ground And shatter like jewels The parched earth Soaks it up Like a man in a desert At an oasis The plants bathe their leaves In the cool deluge Thankful for relief From the scorching sun As the Summer rain Drenches the land The animals are resting In their cozy dens The clouds begin to part The rain no longer falls Dewdrops glisten in the light A rainbow hangs in the sky above

The Fear

I got this cat a while ago. He was a cute, fluffy, little kitten. Black with three white spots. He was in a cage at the animal shelter with his two brothers. I adopted him and took him home with me. He immediately settled in and decided he was king of the place. He was a little terrorizer, so I named him The Fear. He greets me when I get home. And he likes to lay atop the monitor while I'm on the computer. That terrible beast known as cat.

Crunch, crunch, crunch The bright white snow Breaks beneath my feet Sinking up to my knees Light glints off a frozen stream The cool water burbles underneath I sit beside it and watch the flow As flakes of snow fall softly from the sky The cold, dry wind whistles through the trees Their creaking branches reach for the sky Like old, withered fingers seeking warmth Though none is to be found in the frozen sky
